Educational Consultations

- 1. An Educational Consultant (EC)assists parents in identifying what services are available for their child.
2. An EC works with child study/IEP teams to develop appropriate accommodations for disabled students in the public school or locating appropriate private school setting.
3. An EC provides a voice for the children with knowledge of "best practices" in education.
4. An EC is familiar with how schools work, current legislation, specific needs of the disabled child and are able to provide resources and suggestions for student success.
5. An EC is an intermediary for parents to utilize before seeking legal action against a school district is necessary. In 80% of the cases a consultant can assist in resolving the impasse and assist in developing appropriate services.
6. An EC can interpret educational test data for parents making it user friendly.
7. An EC can review and organize educational materials and identify areas in need of further exploration.
8. An EC can assist parents and school personnel with developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP's) to increase the student's success in the classroom.
FEES
Initial Review of Records, Parent and/or Child Interviews and teleconference attendance at 1 IEP/504 meeting $500.00 (up to 12 hour)
Preparation of parent to advocate at child's IEP meeting $ 50.00 per hour
Attendance as Advocate at IEP meetings $ 90.00 per hour
